BOOK DESIGN - WINTER 2020
A Pandemic in Review
Project Context & Objectives
A Pandemic in Review is a personal and visual reflection on the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on the events of early 2020. The project combines a visual narrative with a news archive and personal diary entries, providing a multifaceted view of the pandemic's emotional and societal effects. The goal was to create a comprehensive yet accessible book that captured the raw experience of living through the pandemic, blending factual data with personal storytelling.
My Involvement
As the designer and compiler of this project, I gathered data, news reports, and personal reflections to create a cohesive visual narrative. The book features diary entries I wrote during the pandemic alongside key events, offering insight into both the collective and individual experience. The design of the book was focused on balancing information and personal reflection, creating a visually engaging experience for the reader.
Design Process & Outcome
The design process included sourcing visual elements and data to align with the narrative structure of the book. I created layouts that highlighted both the emotional impact and factual aspects of the pandemic. The final product served as both a historical record and a personal memoir, offering readers a nuanced understanding of the pandemic's global and personal dimensions.
